Three in a row

Hello again, I should be in bed...but I've made another card for the simply less is more challenge -one layer -all in a row!
This is the second...my mind seems to have connected with the theme I think. I was going to gold emboss the crowns -this was the trail card. But I like how the glitter pen and the liquid pearls sparkle so I've decided to go with it as is.

The stamps are from elusive images.
Thanks for looking!

All in a row

Hello again,  I hope all your Christmas plans are falling into place. Our's are. Our daughter and her husband are bringing their new little daughter (our first grandchild)  home for the first time....we can hardly wait!

The new challenge on Simply Less is More is one layer and "all in a row".
I have just the stamp and decided to have a go.
I hope you think the sentiment fits the image... for us in Australia.. we understand that the song of the kookaburra is loud so I think it fits. We have 3 in our garden at present.

The image is from Stamp It and the sentiment is Papertrey Ink.
I'm rather pleased with it and I hope you like it as well.
Thanks for looking!

The road ...

Hello there,
I've been missing for a few months and it's been quite some time since I've made a card for a challenge.
The last months have been busy with family life.. some good and some sad.
We are now grandparents for the first time to a lovely little girl and we've had a trip away to visit and meet her for the first time. And, as is sometimes the way ...the good is tinged with sadness as my husband lost his twin brother to cancer....sad and happy all in the space of a few weeks...!

So, I've not been in the card making groove and I need to be, because Christmas is just around the corner.  Tonight I've manged a card for the "Less is More" challenge!
This week is ONE Layer week 93 and the theme is HOUSES.
Here is my card.
The house is from Maya Road and the sentiment is from dark room door.
I've masked and sponged the hills with Distress ink.
Thanks for looking!

Square daisy

Hello everyone- we've enjoyed a great day again today, spring may come sooner than we think!
Tonight I have a square card to share for http://cas-ualfridays.blogspot.com.au/
CFC65: Create a Clean And Simple Square shaped card
The image I've used is from Technique Tuesday and the sentiment is from darkroom door.
I coloured with distress ink and cut the daisy and edged it with some dots and dashes. The center is made with liquid pearls. It looks all shimmery/pearly in real life! My card is 4 and a quarter inches square.

Thanks for looking! I'll be around to look at the cards in the gallery shortly!

Well this is a little close...but I've only sighted this challenge a short while ago.
The card I've made is paper pieced with stamps from Whimsy Doodle.

Thanks for looking!
I'll be around later to check out the cards!

A little bird...

I've thought about the CASEStudy challenge for a few days wondering if I should try to make a card .I did and here is what I've come up with. I was guided by the red and white gingham and the tree and the bird. I used an MFT tree and grass die and sentiment. The gingham stamp is from Peddler's Pack and the bird is from Stampin Up.

Here is the lovely card to CASE.

Wreath

As I said in my last post I'm enjoying the Christmas Challenges. The challenge at http://52cct.blogspot.co.uk/ this week is to use a wreath on your card. I've used a limited colour palate and this is what I came up with. The wreath is from Hero Arts and the dp is older so I don't have the name. The dp is edged in gold which was difficult to catch on the photo.I raised the dp up on mounting tape.As the dp already has Christmas words I've not added another sentiment. I hope you like it!

All in RED

I'm enjoying the chance to get ahead with my Christmas cards seeing as it's winter in Australia and when the weather warms I'll be out in the garden. I've discovered a new Christmas Challenge at http://jinglebellesrock.blogspot.com.au/
The challenge at present is to use red  or green on Christmas card but NOT both.
Here is my card .
I've used a PTI merry die and Christmas stamp.
The cute bird is a die and stamp from poppystamps.
  No green on this one!

Thanks for taking a look!

Black White and a touch of Blue

I've only just managed to squeeze a card in for this weeks  challenge at  http://52cct.blogspot.co.uk/.
And here is my card.

I've used Hero Arts stamps and Sizzix die ( same kit) and broken china distress ink for the jumper ( which is paper pieced).
I know it's quick - but it looks rather cute.
Thanks for looking! I'll be around to look at the gallery now!

Three Wise Men

Hello everyone, well tonight can I say how pleased I am that we have digital photos these days- it's taken me 21 photos to get 2 photos that did not blur so much . I'm worn out.
Sorry still a little bit of a blur. Here is my card for the simply less is more challenge .

The challenge is for a ONE LAYER CARD with 3 items

Here are the Three Wise Men with 3 gifts & 3 words.
I've used a Stampendous stamp and Encore metallic blue  and metallic gold ink.
This is the one card. You can see the blur problem I'm having.

I added the embellishment and some perfect pearl spritz to add a bit more interest.
Thanks for looking!

Sending Sunshine

I've just discovered another CAS challenge http://casology.blogspot.com.au/ which is offering a challenge with a cue card.
The cue this week is SUN and here is my card.
I've used a PTI sunburst and the sentiment is PTI as well. The image is from Technique Tuesday!

Christmas Sketch

This week the challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown  is a sketch .
I've used some poinsettia dp and half of a background stamp from darkroom door.
I sprayed the center panel with some glimmer mist to tie the colours together.

It looks lovely and shimmery in real life. I hope you like it.
I've found a challenge looking for cards with holly or poinsettia - so'll enter as well.
Check them out http://christmascardsallyearround.blogspot.com.au/

just sitting

I've been looking at all the fantastic cards on the CASE study for a while now and I loved the beautiful card that Kristii Lockart made when I saw it last year. When I saw it as the case study I decided it was time to join the challenge!
Here is the card I made. I used some patterned paper with bird cages and little birds. The wistful cat is from Magnolia and the sentiment is from PTI and I'm quite happy with how it looks!
Thanks for looking!

Gold Text for Christmas

Hello again .
This week I've decided to make a card which fits two challenges- a first for me. I've heat embossed a gold image and layered  it onto luscious gold card stock. The image is from Stamp-It.

The first challenge is  Simply Less is More
It's a colour challenge this week and the chosen colour is GOLD.

The second challenge is CAS-ual Fridays
CFC60  Use text in your Clean And Simple design

Looking and Learning

Hello everyone,
The challenge at "Less is More" this week is to create a card using the header on the LIM blog as inspiration.
I've used the colours in the header and a stamp on a roller that I bought second hand. Maker unknown.
The sentiment is from PTI.

I enjoy looking and getting ideas from all the talented card makers.
Thanks for the challenge Mandi and Chrissie and thanks to all the contributors who inspire us each week!

Paper Piecing

Hello everyone, I wasn't happy with my card for the paper piecing challenge at http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com.au/  so I've just managed to make another and post again. This time I stuck to my original plan and didn't add as many elements.
As you can see- I need practice at drawing a shadow .
I've used 3 layers of paper for the bear and heat embossed the heart once again.

Paper bear

Just in the nick of time -I've made a card with paper piecing for the  challenge at http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com.au

I'm thinking that it's lacking something...I think it's colour. I should have made the bear and placed it on cream card I think...but - no time to alter tonight.
I've used 3 layers of paper and the heart has been stamped and heat embossed.
The sentiment is PTI. Thanks for looking!

Christmas Glitter

 Good morning all!
I had some fun with this last night for the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown
The challenge is to use glitter!

I've stamped the music onto kraft card in VersaMark and heat embossed.
The words are a PTI die and a stamp.
I'm not sure if the brown base is the correct colour. It looks OK in real life though.

Thanks for taking a look. I'll be back later to look at the cards in the gallery!

Pink butterflies

Good morning everyone, here is a quick post before I head off to work.
I've got some new hot pink paper and I've been using it quite a bit.
The butterflies and the dp are from PTI and the sentiment is gina k.- Sent with love.
Thanks for looking!
I'll be around after work to check out all the beautiful pink creations!

Acetate cake!

This week over at CAS-ualfridays the challenge is to create a card using acetate or vellum.
I've had the acetate with the cakes printed on it for a year. It's good to be using it!

I've used kraft card and stripped paper from PTI and the acetate at the top is from Hambly Screen Prints. The sentiment is heat embossed and is from Whimsy Doodle.
The colours are great in real life.

Thanks for taking a look. I enjoy your comments.

White Christmas

This is the first time I've entered the 52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown  http://52cct.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/june-color-challenge.html .
This week the challenge is a white on white festive card.
I saw a link on Vicky's site:  http://craftingclare.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/going-dotty-with-fox-and-friends.html and I thought I'd join in and produce some cards before the season is here again!

It's difficult for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere to make white Christmas cards especially with snow .... I love them and I would love to produce them, but it seems wrong. We enjoy sunny summer weather at Christmas time. So, I decided I could produce a white card with Christmas words instead!

I hope you like it!
Thanks for the inspiration! I'll be back.

Polka dots

Hello everyone, this is my first visit to  http://cas-ualfridays.blogspot.com.au/- I just happened by ( via a link from Meadie's blog) and saw the polka dot CAS challenge.
My card was made on Saturday when I tried to die cut a flourish for another card.
The die didn't cut through- but I liked the look of it and used it as the basis for this card.
The flower is made with a Sizzix die and  dp paper.
The overall effect is soft and I'm pleased how it turned out. I hope it qualifies as CAS.
I had trouble taking a photo and had to go outside- sorry about the pergola roof in the second photo!

Thanks for looking!

With a flourish

Hello again...well this week the challenge at http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com.au/ is for a one layer card and a flourish. So.....I've been thinking and looking at my stamps and this is what I've come up with.
I've used MFT and PTI stamps ... the fonts are different but I think they work well enough.
I haven't used much colour- I like the white on the kraft card- it looks blotchy in the photo though-yikes!
I heat embossed the dummy and the YOU.
I'm quite happy with how it turned out!

Thanks for looking!

Owl be seeing you!

Good evening everyone!
We've had a lovely crisp cold day here today.
My card is Red White and Blue for the Week 70 colour challenge at http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com.au/

I found the colours a bit hard to work with - because I wanted to use a crown.
However- as often happens- one thing led to another and here is my card with no crown.
Now that I see the card on the screen I've worked out that I could place a small red crown in the top right corner- like a postage stamp.
The stamps are from Stampers Anonymous, Darkroom Door and the owl ( and the missing crown) is from Darcie's. The owl and crown are lovely and  have a vintage look- hence my final design.
I hope there is enough white space! The blue is: chipped sapphire -distress ink.

Thanks for looking once again! I do appreciate any comments!

Thinking of you

It's Monday evening here and I've just finished my shaped card for Week 69 on the  http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com.au/ where Mandi and Chrissie have challenged us to produce a shaped card (not square or rectangle).
I've used a Spellbinder shape and cut two panels . I've scored one at the top and used it to form the back.
I've used an embossing folder on the top of the front panel and added a ribbon on the join. I made some rolled paper roses from dp and added leaves made with a  Stampin Up punch. The sentiment is from Papertrey Inc.

Thanks for taking a look at my card and thanks for your kind comments last week.

Baby

Hello everyone, it's been a lovely weekend for gardening and card making here .
Sunny and warm during the day and crisp as evening approaches.
The challenge at http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com.au/  for week 68 is for a themed card, and the theme is Baby or Child! I'm in need of some of both so I've made some baby cards to start with and I'll be back later on in the week with some cards for children.

I think the first and last card fit the LIM criteria but I think the second is my favorite.
The stamps are from Whimsie Doodle. I've placed some paper piecing on each card. I've added a second photo of number 3 so that you can see the small paper strip which is visible behind the border when the card is closed.

Thanks for looking!
I do appreciate your comments!

Happy Birthday

Hello ...I've just squeezed in with a card for the "Less is "More"challenge this week, where we are asked to create a card with 3 stamps .

I've used 2 stamps from Whimsie Doodles (Have Cake) and the sentiment is from papertrey ink (Beautiful Butterflies)

Thanks for looking.
I'm just about to take a look at the fabulous cards already in the gallery!
 Such inspiring work!

Sail Away "Less is More"

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I posted....and I've missed some great challenges. The weather is cooling and I should have more time inside in the months to come.
Here is my Yellow card for the "Less is More" Challenge !

I've used yellow distress ink ( Mustard Seed) on cream card and the stamps are from darkroom door.
I did this yesterday... but I couldn't get the new blogger to work for me. I notice the second photo has a shadow again but now I need to head off to work! Sorry!

Flower pot!

Hello everyone.
I've been rather slow of late with challenges at Simply Less is More .
This week (Week 61 Lucky Dip)  Mandi and Chrissie and Jenny have given us a photo as inspiration!

This is what I came up with!

I've used a small flower punch and gathered the flowers together to create the "mop top". The centers are Platinum Pearl liquid pearls.
The striped planter and flowers sit on a silver card. Sadly, I overdid the shadow effect on the planter.
Not much stamping this time I admit, but I'm quite happy with the effect!

I'll have time later to visit all the lovely cards in the gallery!
Thanks for looking!

Just a note

I was just a little unhappy with my last card. I felt the script was a little heavy. Here is another attempt. The font on this script is fine and I like it better. I do like the feather and the spot so I thought I should try again.

Thanks for looking!

Script

Hello again, I've been thinking about the challenge and remembered some great stamps that I could use.
This is my second card for "Week 58- one layer card with script" at Simply Less is More.
http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com.au/
The first photo is a close up of the feather and the spot and sentiment ( PTI stamps).
I love the detail in the feather.

The background stamp is from darkroom door. I've used a metallic ink and it 's quite faint in the right light.
I realised after I stamped that I should have left more white space.
My husband says it looks good though , so I decided to stick with it!

Thanks for looking!

Sunday 11 March 2012

Thanks

The challenge at Simply Less is More this week is a one layer card with SCRIPT!

I haven't made a card for a while so I decided to have a go.

My card uses words and score lines on kraft paper. The stamp is from Stampin Up. I've used a gloss pen on the THANKS and the hearts but it doesn't show up in the photo.

Thanks for looking.!

PTI blog hop Jan 2012

It wasn't hard for me to choose my favourite card with PTI elements for 2011.
This is the card I used for my very first ( and only) PTI blog hop just before Christmas last year. I was rather happy with how this turned out! The PTI die has been covered with glossy accents and I've simply placed it with a coordinating PTI stamp and some lovely MF dp. The die's are all great to use. Love them!

I've decided to use this idea for this year and here are two cards that I've created.
For the first I used the same PTI die with a glitter paper and a different PTI sentiment ( I cut it because it originally said "Christmas Blessings").
The 2 step tree from StampinUp ties it together I think.

The last card and clearest photo ( sorry for my hazy snaps) is for families with children.
I love this one and it was quick and easy to make.
The shiny cardstock was hard to stamp cleanly so, I used a rub on and it worked  well!
Does any one have any hints about which ink to use on shiny cardstock? Rudolph is an ek punch!

Thanks for looking!
