just sittin' here thinkin' of you!

Thanks for the kind thoughts for my husband. He's home again and he's just come back from a lovely walk on the beach. It's perfect ( though rather dry) here at present and it's good to have him back again.

This week over at http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/ the challenge for Week 51 that Mandi & Chrissie have set is a  theme- "Cut it Out" and they'd like to see some kind of hole or aperture in our cards!

Here is what I came up with. I love this rabbit stamp and this is the first time I've used it. It's from Kaszazz. I stamped him and sponged on some colour. He has a glossy accents nose which is difficult to see in the photo.
The clouds are a Hero Arts background stamp, the sentiment is from PTI and the grass was cut from dp using an MFT die. I placed some grass inside the card as well. The panel is raised on Kraft card.

I guess there isn't a lot of empty space but it's not overloaded with detail either.
It looks clean and simple to me so I decided it was ok - what do you think?

Clean and Simple Card Class

Well, it's day 8 of the two week class and this is my first card. I've wanted to join in but things just keep getting in the way. I've been looking, and thinking and trying to find time and finally I've had a go!

This card is the technique from day 5.  Never tried it before and I really DO like it!  Not centred perfectly etc. but I  LOVE the pearly sheen. I tried one stamp across the panel  and I'm happy enough with how it turned out. I'll make sure I centre the image with a ruler next time.
The embossing powder is Amethyst and the Distress inks are worn lipstick, scattered straw and milled lavender! I mounted the panel onto Kraft card. The sentiment is from darkroom door and the image is from Lucy's Stamps ( it's old- I bought it second hand).

Thanks for looking.

One layer birds!

The theme for the challenge at Simply Less is More t( week 50) is a :
ONE LAYER CARD
with the subject of
BIRDS

Well  at last a challenge where I can use a card I've made previously and what good timing! My husband was admitted to hospital last night and I may not have time to make a card!
Sorry if  this is a little on the dark side. It was a night time photo as I recall.
I've simply placed my distress ink pad on the paper to create the background and then masked the edges and placed the birds on top. They are embellished with glossy accents which you can't see in the photo.
The sentiment is from Gina K Designs.

"LIM" Week 49 Colour Challenge

Hello everyone, I really enjoyed the time spent with family and I hope you did as well.
January is moving by and sadly our daughter and her husband  have returned to their home in NSW.
Time to get back into the usual routine.

It's a colour challenge for week 49 at "Less is More"
The challenge is PREDOMINANTLY PURPLE . I made this a few days back but the night photos just made the purple look black. Lovely and sunny day today and I'm home in time to snap some daytime shots!
Here is my card.

Here is a close up so that you can see that the image and sentiment really are purple.

The image is made with a Martha Stewart Punch. I discovered the technique on a YouTube video and I've pasted the link below the photo of the punch. I couldn't actually work out the makers name but she has done a great job! The video instructions are easily followed.
I made 2 of the punched  pieces. One was a lighter purple to add some extra colour. I found that the second one made the centre piece more stable as well. Once I'd made the centre piece I simply cut a nestie circle ( a little larger) on the front of my card and placed the  punched image inside. It looked a little underdone so I punched another circle and created a frame.
Not much stamping on this one! The sentiment is from PTI..

Thanks for looking and thanks for all the lovely comments!

Birthday wishes

I've been slow with this challenge and with leaving comments for others because we have one of our daughters and her husband staying with us  - which is lovely. It's a little more difficult to stamp when the weather is fine and there are family gatherings to enjoy!

I was showcased in the MUSIC challenge!
How exciting- I must work out how to place the badge on my blog!
Thanks for all the lovely comments and thanks Chrissie and Mandi.

At the moment the final challenge for 2011 at "Less is More" is:
JUST ONE WORD, a clean and simple card with a sentiment of simply one word.

I've used PTI stamps and then heat embossed the inks and added lines for extra dimension with my score board.

This next card is the first I made with the one word sentiment. When I had finished I noticed it had 2 teal smudges !  You can see them clearly on close up! I thought I'd post it anyway just to show the different version.

Thanks for looking!
All the best for 2012.
Happy New Year!

Bird song

Well this is number three for the "Less is More" week 46 challenge.  http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/

Music is the theme today and it's really got me thinking AND using more of my stamps!
I'm pleased with how this one turned out but I'll have to stop as the light has changed. I have  a good deal of bother with the light and my photos!

I  thought that my card would look better with a border as this is not a one layer challenge. I cut it and placed it on a black card. I think it adds a little more definition.
I hope you can see- sorry it's a bit dark again in the photo.

Thanks for looking!

Santa Claus is...!

The Music theme challenge for week 46 at "Less is More" is inspired!
http://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/

I have a Christmas CD playing and almost every tune is giving me ideas!
This card is themed " Santa Claus is coming to town".
It looked a little underdone so I added the lines. They look ok in real life...but they're are bit wobbly  in the close photo! It's 1pm on Sunday so there was no wine involved.
The image is from darkroom door and I've stamped it in gold ( it has a lustre in rl) .
I went over some of the words with a pen to highlight them and coloured the holly! I used liquid pearls- ( I love it) to make the berries pop!

Thanks for looking and I hope Santa comes to your town!
